Listed building restoration

We have recently been commissioned to take on this important project. We will be updating it on our website as work progresses.

chapel   monastery
This 13th century chapel with its attached 16th century small monastery has already been partly converted but a lot remains to be done. It is listed as a "Monument Historique" thus the restoration work is extremely exacting and must all be approved in advance of, as well as during, the work by the Architectes des Bâtiments de France.  rooflauzes

We are currently waiting for permission to restore the chapel roof, using traditional "lauzes" (thick stone "tiles") - as part of this request we submitted  a fully illustrated dossier detailing the chronologial construction of the whole building.
The original roof is in bad repair, allowing water to damage the 13th century interior of the chapel.

settingIn the meantime we are starting work on the plans to restore the monastery into habitable space. Unsympathetic 19th- and mid-20th century restoration needs to be removed. The project aims to use traditional materials in keeping with the building, but also to provide a contemporary well-lit environment to maximise its magnificent natural setting in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
