Sébastien Garnier

Double Manual Harpsichord

The `Sébastien Garnier'  1747

Description

The original of this harpsichord is the only surviving instrument by this renowned maker, now in a private collection in Belgium.  The Garnier organ-building family in Paris were known to have close connections with François Couperin who wrote a harpsichord piece entitled `Le Garnier'. It is therefore not surprising that the tone of the original instrument is exceptional.  Balanced throughout the compass, the clear treble enhances the round tenor sound and deep sonorous bass.  For those who are searching for a harpsichord which epitomises the finest in the French school this would be a wise choice.
